After the United States imposed additional tariffs on goods imported from China, China also imposed a 10% tariff on goods imported from the U.S. China took this step based on the principle of reciprocity. China’s recent decision will affect the import of large engine cars, pickup trucks, LNG, crude oil, and agricultural machinery from the U.S. The deadline for the U.S. to impose tariffs on China expired today. A 10% additional tariff has now been implemented on goods coming from China to the U.S. With this, China has also announced retaliatory tariffs. The U.S. has, however, suspended the 25% additional tariffs imposed on Mexico and Canada for 30 days.
