Australian cricketer Steve Smith has completed 10,000 runs in Test cricket. He reached this milestone while playing in the first Test against Sri Lanka, which started on Wednesday.
Smith is the 15th batter in the world to score 10,000 Test runs and the fourth Australian player to achieve this feat. Before him, Ricky Ponting, Allan Border, and Steve Waugh had also crossed 10,000 runs for Australia.
The 36-year-old Smith has played 115 Test matches and has scored more than 10,000 runs with 34 centuries and 50 half-centuries. His batting average is above 55, making him one of the best Test batters among active cricketers.
He had a chance to reach this milestone during the Test series against India last December. However, by the end of the series, he was stuck at 9,999 runs.
