Ravi Lamichhane arrived in Chitwan to give a statement at the court. the president of the National Independent Party (Raswapa), who is involved in a cooperative fraud case, arrived in Chitwan this morning. He is in Chitwan to give a statement after a fraud case was filed against him at the Chitwan District Court on Tuesday.
According to Krishna Prasad Bhusal, the Raswapa Chitwan district coordinator, Ravi is staying at Hotel Global in Chawbis Kothi and is busy meeting with party workers. Bhusal said, “He is busy with meetings. A decision will be made soon about whether he will attend the court.”
Amrit Bhishwakarma, the court’s information officer, also confirmed that they haven’t received an official notice about Ravi’s attendance in court. “We haven’t been informed yet if he will be present for his statement. If he attends, the statement process will begin,” Bhishwakarma said.
The fraud case against Ravi was filed in Chitwan District Court on Tuesday. The case was registered in the afternoon, and later that evening, Chitwan’s District Attorney Shantiprasad Luitel was transferred to Kathmandu.
After Ravi gives his statement today, a debate on his custody will take place. The judge will then decide whether to release him on bail, with conditions, or send him to jail.
