After Bhool Bhulaiyaa, director Priyadarshan is bringing a new horror-comedy film titled Bhoot Bangla starring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan. After the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa in 2007, producers Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar had proposed making sequels to it with Priyadarshan as the director.
However, Priyadarshan was not interested in making a sequel, as he felt there was no need to stretch the story of Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Despite this, the producers made two additional parts of Bhool Bhulaiyaa without Priyadarshan, which were directed by Anees Bazmee.
However, the second and third parts of Bhool Bhulaiyaa were not as well received by the audience as the first part. Taking advantage of the fact that the audience still prefers the original Bhool Bhulaiyaa starring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan, Priyadarshan has announced that he will be making Bhoot Bangla with the same two stars. After De Dana Dan, Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar will collaborate again after 14 years, while Priyadarshan will work with Vidya Balan for the second time.
