School Bus Accident in Kathmandu: Three Dead, Many Injured

A school bus accident in Shankharapur Municipality-5, Kathmandu, has resulted in the deaths of three people. However, the police have not yet released details about the deceased students.

SP Apilraj Bohora from Kathmandu Police confirmed the deaths. One person died at NMC Hospital, another at Shankharapur Hospital, and one at Teaching Hospital. Doctors have officially confirmed the three deaths.

The accident is believed to have happened due to brake failure. The school had rented the bus for a picnic trip.

The bus (Ba 2 Kha 7958) from Satya Sai Academy, located in Chabahil, was taking students to Nagarkot for a picnic. The accident occurred at around 5 PM while returning.

The driver, 39-year-old Manish Majhi from Chautara, Sindhupalchok, was driving the bus at the time of the accident.

Injuries and Hospital Treatment

A total of 40 people were injured. Among them, 24 are receiving treatment at People’s Life Care Hospital. Others are being treated at Shankharapur Hospital, Nepal Medical College, and Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.

  13. Ranjit Thapa (13 years)
  14. Suhana Gubhaju (13 years)
  15. Shrisant Poudel (15 years)
  16. Kalpana Regmi (32 years)
  17. Bikalpa Shrestha (10 years)
  18. Naiska Pandey (23 years)
  19. Subita Tamang (14 years)
  20. Nishant Poudel (14 years)
  21. Saugat Magar (14 years)
  22. Abit Khan (10 years)
  23. Two more names yet to be confirmed.

Additionally, 10 injured individuals are being treated at Nepal Medical College, Attarkhel, and 3 at TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj.
